COURSE OVERVIEW
The course is delivered part time (2 full days per week) over 10 weeks, with seven weeks of theory classes and three weeks of full time clinical placement in various health care agencies.
 
Students must successfully complete all core and elective units in order to be awarded the
Certificate III in Aged Care (CHC30208).
 
COURSE DESCRIPTION AND CLIENT OUTCOME
Students will be taught to carry out activities related to the maintenance of an individual’s personal care and or other activities of daily living. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to work as personal care workers, in home, respite worker, home care worker or assistant in nursing in various nursing homes and other health care facilities.
 
Candidates must have successfully completed Year 10 or equivalent. English proficiency must be
equivalent to Certificate of Spoken and Written English level 3 or NRS 3. Applicants from overseas must meet the English requirement by providing an evidence of current proficiency for this course (Overall IELTS score 5.5 with no score below 5 in each component)
 
ASSESSMENT METHODS
Students are assessed using various methodologies like case studies, short answer questions, role plays, Simulations and practical tasks whilst on Clinical Placement. Students must be found competent in all 14 units in order to gain the qualification.

CREDIT TRANSFER AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
Exemptions or credits are usually based on successful completion of equivalent models or units from previous relevant study in similar course.   Applications for credits should include details of unit syllabus and certified copies of the academic transcript.
